Thorne is the son of Eric Forrester and Stephanie Forrester. Caroline was the daughter of Bill Spencer Sr. and Marion Bradley Spencer.

Caroline was supposed to marry Thorne's older brother Ridge Forrester, but it didn't happen after Caroline found out that Ridge was unfaithful. Caroline was looking for a job and Thorne, who started falling in love with Caroline, offered her a job at Forrester Creations. Caroline refused because she didn't want to work side by side with Ridge and went to work in another company instead. In June 1987 Ridge invited Caroline to a party at his parents house. Caroline agrees to come and at the party she see's Brooke Logan again working as a caterer. She gives the Logan girl her number and wants the two of them to stay in touch. After the party is over Ridge tries to seduce Caroline again, but she rejects him. Ridge is disappointed and vows that he won't be waiting forever. Ridge let his brother Thorne Forrester believe that he and Caroline made love. Ridge's brother decides to see Caroline and talks with her about it, but Caroline assures him that it's not true. In the heat of the moment Thorne kissed her. Caroline see's Brooke and the two bond. Ridge, seeing that Thorne has "the hots" for he woman he loves, tries to encourage Thorne to be with Caroline's new friend. Ridge, Caroline, Despite Ridge being a cheater Caroline gave him another chance, but he blew it because he tried to seduce Brooke Logan. Ridge couldn't accept that Caroline wanted to wait with sex until marriage.

Thorne comforting Caroline after she got raped[]

Saddened by her break up with Ridge Caroline was at a bar where she met a charming man named Ron Deacon. The man was secretly observing Caroline before. The two eat dinner together and Ron tells Caroline that he'll take her back home. When Caroline wanted to close the door he stopped her and brutally raped her. Caroline is devastated and calls Brooke. The Logan girl asked her fiance Dave Reed to help Caroline. They both take Caroline to the hospital where Brooke convinces the Spencer girl to move in to her family home. Caroline agrees and doesn't tell anyone where she is.

Thorne finds out about the rape. He confesses his love for her and assures her that he will not tell anyone where she is or what happened. Brooke takes Caroline to Joan Anderson, a therapist. Roy Banks takes the case of Caroline's rape and he doesn't fully believe that she was raped because of lacking evidence. Caroline is devastated meanwhile Thorne feels forced to reveal the truth about the rape to Caroline's father and he organizes a meeting between daughter and father. Caroline refuses to tell her dad where she is living and doesn't want to go back to his place.

After Ron gets convicted Caroline and Thorne spend a romantic evening at Caffe Russe. Thorne proposes to Caroline and she asks him for some time to think. She developed feelings for him during the trial, but she was also still very much in love with Ridge. When Caroline tells Brooke about Thorne's proposal the Logan girl encourages her to accept. Caroline thinks it over and decides to accept Thorne's marriage proposal and offers her friendship to Ridge. Ridge vows that he won't be coming to the wedding and kisses Caroline in front of Thorne.

In December 1987 Eric gifts Caroline a beautiful wedding dress that he himself designed. When Caroline was trying her dress Brooke hands her a letter from Ridge (after Stephanie told Brooke to do it). Caroline is torn if she should open it, but she does on her wedding day. It's a love letter in which Ridge is confessing his love again. Caroline asks Brooke to bring Ridge to her. During the meeting Ridge tells her that he loves her, but Caroline married his brother anyway. She also convinced Ridge to be Thorne's best man. After Caroline became Thorne's wife Brooke caught her bouquet. Right after the wedding ceremony the two went for a honeymoon.

Thorne takes Caroline to Big Bear Cabin for what was supposed to be a romantic getaway, but when they arrive Brooke and Ridge are there. Caroline doesn't really want to look at Ridge and Brooke together, but the weather conditions force the four of them to spend the night together in the cabin.

In March 1988 Caroline is jealous when she see's Brooke and Ridge together at the pool and wonders how her life would be if she could read Ridge's letter a lot sooner than she did. Caroline decides to tell Thorne about Brooke's manipulation, but he makes a confession that he was the one who convinced Brooke to hide the letter. Caroline is furious with Thorne. Brooke asks Caroline to not tell Ridge about the letter and she agrees, but under one condition- Brooke must stop seeing Ridge. Brooke agrees meanwhile Thorne makes a proposition to Caroline. He wants them to stop living at the Forrester mansion so Caroline won't be seeing Ridge anymore.

In April 1988 Caroline, Thorne and Ridge are celebrating Caroline's birthday. Suddenly Brooke, who was invited by Ridge arrives. Ridge can see that there is tension between Caroline and Brooke. The Logan girls is terrified that Caroline will reveal the truth about the letter to Ridge now that she broke her promise. Caroline takes the high road and keeps her silence.

Caroline asks Thorne to stop planning moving out because she has too much work at the magazine. The two continue living at the Forrester mansion where Caroline and ridge occasionally flirt. Caroline can't stop thinking about Ridge and calls a new magazine "Eye on fashion" which was Ridge's idea.

In May 1988 Ridge revealed to everyone that he thinks about marrying Brooke. Thorne is happy for Ridge, but Caroline thinks it's a joke and she's shocked when Brooke moved into the Forrester mansion. Caroline asks Ridge about his feelings for Brooke. Ridge replies that he likes her and flirts with Caroline. She gets angry and tries to slap him.

Caroline accidentally cheating on Thorne with Ridge[]

One evening Caroline, Ridge, Thorne and Brooke spend time at the pool. Ridge and Caroline both get drunk. Thorne decided that Caroline should rest and took her to the bedroom. He left her there and went to the kitchen. Ridge wants to make a prank and gets into Caroline's bed. It's dark and she thinks it's Thorne so she starts making out with him. The two end up having sex. After that shocked Ridge leaves the room and he feels guilty and horrified by his own actions, but he couldn't resist Caroline. After some time Caroline realizes that the man she was making love to was not Thorne. She questions Ridge and he says that it wasn't him, but she noticed that he had scratches on his back and realizes that it was him. Caroline is broken and tries to move out of the Forrester mansion. Stephanie stops her and then Caroline confesses to her what happened. Stephanie convinces her to stay. Soon Thorne notices that something isn't right with his wife. The two started having problems in bed.

Caroline was in New York with her father Bill when she found out that Ridge has been shot. She immediately travels back to LA. In October 1988 Caroline spends time by Ridge's hospital bed and reminisces about their past and kisses him. Soon after Ridge woke up from the coma. Ridge almost dying made Caroline realize how how she still loves him. She tries to reveal her feelings to him, but it stopped by Thorne. Caroline goes to see dr. Dennis Cameron and wants to get a therapy as she feels lost. Soon after Brooke tells Caroline that Ridge confessed that he loves her which only devastated Caroline more.

In December 1988 Caroline tells her therapist that she doesn't want Brooke and Ridge to get married. The therapist tells her to take action. Caroline decides to tell Stephanie the truth about her feelings and hopes to find an ally in her. She's disappointed when Stephanie disapproves of her going back to Ridge and leaving her other son. On the contrary Stephanie started to support Ridge and Brooke's union. Thorne tries his best to win Caroline over, but she's distant. Caroline offers peace to Brooke and reveals to Stephanie that she is going to leave Thorne. Stephanie begs Eric to stop Caroline from leaving Thorne because he won't be able to deal with it. Eric succeeds on stopping Caroline and soon the Spencer girl finds out that Brooke and Ridge are engaged.

In January 1989 Caroline tries to talk with Ridge again, but she ditches the idea when Ridge starts making fun of her father. She's so disappointed in Ridge that she decided to get close to Thorne again. Caroline made love to her husband again, but ends up flirting with Ridge soon after. Stephanie notices that Caroline and Ridge are getting close again so she suggests that Caroline and Thorne should get their own place. Thorne likes Stephanie's idea, but Caroline finds an excuse to stay close to Ridge.

Caroline confesses to Ridge that she loves him and can't forget the night they made love. She's ecstatic when Ridge tells her that his feelings are the same, but the happiness doesn't take long because Stephanie told Caroline that Brooke is pregnant with Ridge's baby. Caroline's mother in law asks her to stop interfering in Ridge and Brooke's engagement and to take care of her own marriage. Ridge tells Caroline that he won't leave Brooke now that she's pregnant which devastated Caroline. While Ridge and Brooke are planning their wedding Thorne asks Caroline if she wants to have a baby with him, but she doesn't want it. Heartbroken Caroline starts saying to Ridge that Brooke may not be pregnant and re-reads Ridge's old letter obsessing over "what if she got the letter faster". Brooke and Caroline even get into a fight. While Caroline is depressed and angry Stephanie suggests that she should organize a bachelorette party for Brooke. Caroline can't take it anymore and demands Brooke to move out of the mansion or she'll tell Ridge about the letter. She agrees, but also asks Caroline to become one of her bridesmaids.

Caroline and Ridge argued about their feelings. Caroline said that she will leave Thorne even Ridge marries Brooke because she doesn't love him as a wife should. Ridge replies that he won't hurt his brother despite the love he feels for her. Caroline is heartbroken when during a party Brooke says that her baby kicked and during her next conversation with Ride she accidentally mentions the letter. Ridge is shocked when he learns the truth meanwhile Brooke ends up in hospital due to stomach pain. Thorne is angry when Caroline goes to see Brooke in the hospital despite he asked her not to. Brooke loses her baby.

In July 1989 Caroline informs her father that she is getting a divorce from Ridge, but Bill assures her that Ridge won't go back to her. Caroline tries to talk to Thorne during a dinner, but he gets strong head pain and it stops her. Ridge asks Caroline to not leave Thorne, but she won't listen. Caroline proceeds to talk with Thorne again, but then he informs her that Ridge and Brooke left town together.

The end of Thorne and Caroline[]

In September 1989 Thorne prepares a romantic evening for him and Caroline. He wants to make love to her, but she rejects him. Thorne loses it and starts yelling at his wife. Caroline confesses to Ridge that she has to tell Thorne the truth about her desire to get divorced. Later Brooke told Caroline that Ridge doesn't want to talk to her and reveals that Thorne is the one who shot Ridge. Thorne forgot about it because of alcohol and sleeping pills, but if Caroline leaves him it may unblock his memory. Caroline decides to stay to protect Thorne's health. Caroline and Ridge visit Michelle Brookner, a psychiatrist. Michelle tells them that the confrontation with the truth will be very challenging for Thorne. She wants to see Thorne and tells Caroline to bring him to her under the pretext of marriage counseling. dr. Brookner wants to make sure that Thorne is ready to learn that he almost killed his older brother and to accept a divorce. Thorne agrees to a therapy. He is incredibly honest and vulnerable. During another session Caroline asks Thorne for a divorce. He is shocked and runs out of the office. When he comes back he is angry, but in the end agrees to a divorce.
