Luna Nozawa was a character on The Bold and the Beautiful, portrayed by Lisa Yamada from September 2023 to November 2025.
Luna was the daughter of Poppy Nozawa, as the result of her one-night stand with adoptive nephew Dr. John Finnegan. She is both the adoptive granddaughter and biological niece of Dr. Li Nozawa, and the biological granddaughter of Jack Finnegan and Sheila Carter.
Background
Luna was born and raised by Poppy in The San Francisco Bay Area. They are self-described "hippies" and "free-spirits", unlike Li and her then-unnamed father who are said to be "very driven".
Luna was an Intern at Forrester Creations; secretly, she also assisted Eric Forrester with his "grand finale" fashion line, at the Forrester Mansion. Due to the fallout caused by Finn's biological mother Sheila Carter and her past/present involvement with the Forrester family - primarily regarding Finn's and wife Steffy Forrester's attempted murder - all members of Luna's family urged her to stay away and leave her internship.
Storylines
Luna was introduced as she entered the family mansion with an armload of supplies for Eric and R.J. Forrester, to help create the new couture line they were working on in secret. When Eric asked partner Donna Logan why she hired Luna over all the other applicants, she had to admit she never looked at her resume, but when Luna pitched in on reception they had a nice talk and she made the decision.
However, while Eric, Donna and R.J. felt they could trust Luna, the young woman then took a phone call from her mother, Poppy, who was upset to learn she was in Los Angeles and warned her to stay away from the family. Poppy had made several further calls, ordering Luna to leave her internship, and reminding her about what happened to Li and Finn.
After Luna assured R.J. she would keep Eric’s condition a secret, he insisted she tell him a secret of her own. She told him she was raised by her mother, who was a bit of a free spirit, though her grandfather and aunt are more driven. R.J. was immediately smitten with Luna, and has attempted to console her over the upset she presents regarding her family. Li found Luna in the Design Office at Forrester Creations, confused as to why she is in Los Angeles, and ordered that she resign. After complying, R.J. implores Luna to reconsider leaving the company, and they kiss intently.
After Luna was reunited with Finn, Luna tells him that the reason, she and her mother lost contact with him for years is because of Li. Then after Finn left, Li returned to the Design Office at Forrester Creations, R.J. implore Li to let Luna stay, but she refused. Then Luna asked R.J. to leave the room in order to speak to her aunt alone. After R.J. left, Luna blasted Li for the way she treated her mother and her for years, never invited her and her mother to Finn and Steffy's wedding, and never comforted her, when Finn was shot. Luna also informed Li, that fashion is her dream, since she was a child, she would know that, if Li would get to know Luna, and no one tells her, what she'll do with her own life, especially Li.
Luna and her mother Poppy Nozawa went to eat at Il Giardino where Bill Spencer Jr. walked up to them. He said that he feels like he knows Poppy from somewhere. Poppy said she doesn't know him, but later confirmed she remembers him as the man she had a one night stand with during a music festival.
Luna remained an intern at Forrester Creations despite her aunts wishes. She and RJ happily dated and she comforted him when his grandfather Eric Forrester was hospitalized and nearly lost his life. RJ cousin, Zende Dominguez, started being interested in Luna and flirted with her. Luna made it clear to him that she's in love with RJ. Soon it was clear that Zende is not only interested in Luna, but jealous of RJ who started working at the family company. Zende thought that it's unfair that it was RJ and not him working on his grandfather's collection. Luna implied that RJ needs to get his own place if he wants to be intimate with her so he rented Bill Spencer Jr.'s Malibu beach house. When RJ and Luna arrived there they discovered that Bill and Luna's mom Poppy Nozawa were on a date there. Luna started wondering if Bill is her father, but Poppy said that he isn't and begged her not to ask who her father is. RJ comforted Luna when she cried about not knowing who her biological father is.
Luna went with RJ to a party in the Forrester Mansion. During the party she had a lot of mints she found in her mother's purse. At the party Zende flirted with her and told her that if she will get tired of R.J. she can come to him and that his place is at the Forrester guest house. Luna started feeling dizzy and decided to go home. Outside she felt thirsty and saw that there are water bottles in guest house so she walked in. Zende was shocked when he came in and saw that Luna is in his bed. Zende raped a clearly intoxicated Luna. She was shocked when she woke up and realized what he had done. Zende was horrified when Luna started saying that she thought he was RJ. Poppy was shocked when she heard what happened to her daughter and she revealed what the mints are. Luna accused her mother of drugging her and being the reason of everything that happened. Zende and Poppy both begged Luna to not tell RJ anything. RJ noticed that something was wrong with Luna, but she didn't tell him anything until weeks later. When RJ found out he punched Zende and told him off. Luna said she hates to come between cousins. At first RJ wasn't sure if he can forget it and he distanced himself from Luna. Brooke Logan found out about it and she comforted Luna. After that she told her son it wasn't Luna's fault and went off on Poppy and Zende for messing with Luna and RJ's lives. RJ realized his mother is right and he forgave Luna.
Poppy told Luna that Bill Spencer Jr. might be her father and she was overjoyed. The DNA test confirmed it and Bill asked Poppy and Luna to move into his mansion. One day a formerly homeless man called Tom Starr appeared and started claiming he is Luna's real dad. Poppy told him that DNA confirmed Bill is Luna's dad, but Tom was adamant he and not Bill is the dad. One evening Tom was performing at Il Giardino and after he stopped singing he suddenly collapsed. Police said it was a drug overdose. Soon after Luna's friend Paul Hollister that also worked at Il Giardino died of the same drug overdose. Luna acted extremely heartbroken when he found out of Hollis's death and had to be comforted by Bill and Poppy. Hollis had no drug use history so police started an investigation. Meanwhile Will Spencer came back to town and he wasn't happy to see Poppy and Luna living with his dad. Will even refused to hug Luna and he later told his mother that he has a bad feeling about the Nozawa women. Will's mother Katie Logan found out that Poppy knew Tom and she accused Poppy of murdering Tom and Hollis to hold onto her luxurious life with Bill. Katie even went to talk to Luna's aunt Li Nozawa and asked her if Poppy could fake the paternity test DNA, but Li assured Katie that she administered the DNA test herself and Bill is without a shadow of doubt Luna's father. One day Luna was looking through Tom's letters to Poppy in her old apartment and she decided to call RJ. Luna told her boyfriend about Tom's letters and wondered if her mother really could have killed Tom and Hollis. RJ decided to tell his aunt Katie about Luna's fears and she contacted the police. Tom's backpack has been found in Poppy and Luna's old apartment together with hard evidence like the drugs Tom and Hollis died of. Poppy has been taken by the police and Katie begged Bill to take another paternity test to find out if Luna is really his child. Full of doubt Bill purchased two paternity kits to find out if Luna is really his child. Sadly both tests showed that he and Luna are not related. Bill showed compassion to Luna and assured her that despite the test results he is there for her. He was blown away when Luna decided to kiss him. Bill thought that Luna acts out because of the pain she feels and still decided to let her stay in his home and didn't tell anyone about Luna's actions. RJ offered Luna to stay with him, but she refused and said that he needs to stay with Bill. Ridge, RJ's father, was surprised by Luna's behavior and that instead of turning to her boyfriend she wants to rely on Bill Spencer.
Steffy Forrester was angry when her husband Finn Finnegan told her that Hope Logan kissed him and she decided to leave town for a bit. Before leaving LA she talked to her ex Liam Spencer about him taking care of their daughter Kelly Spencer. She left, but came back a little bit later as she forgot something, but when she entered the Spencer Estate she saw Luna kissing Bill; he pushed Luna away, yet he was still in denial and thought that Luna is a vulnerable girl that just needs help. Luna saw Steffy in a mirror and decided to run to her apartment. Steffy followed her and confronted her. Luna tried to pretend that she is just lost because of everything that happened recently and she offered Steffy an iced tea. When the two talked Steffy started to put 2 +2 together and she asked if Luna killed Tom and Hollis and framed her mom to have Bill for herself. Luna just smiled and Steffy started feeling dizzy because her tea had drugs. Steffy fell and Luna built a cage around her.
Steffy begged Luna to let her go and to think about her cousin Finn, but Luna laughed at her face and announced that Steffy will never see her family and she's screaming in vain because nobody is in the building and it's about to be demolished soon. Luna visited her mother and was pretending that she's concerned for her, but later immediately went to see Bradley Baker and testified that her mother told her she killed Tom and Hollis. Finn was looking for Steffy as he was surprised that she didn't even contact him one time and a woman from a clinic in Monaco contacted him and told him that his wife made a reservation, but never showed up. Luna walked into the room and asked if Bill wants to take a swim with her. Finn was surprised by Luna's behavior considering the whole situation with Luna's mother in jail for murdering two people. Steffy continued to beg Luna to release her and reminded her how much RJ loves her. Luna said RJ is sweet, but he is just a boy and not a man.
Steffy was shocked when Luna revealed that she had the best sex of her life with Zende and that she lied to Zende, RJ and Poppy that she didn't know who she has sex with. At that time Bill told Finn that Luna kissed him twice and he blamed it on her dealing with complex emotions. When the two talked Finn found Steffy's phone at Bill's. Finn started to be extra suspicious of his cousin after all of this and he told Bill to keep an eye on Luna. Meanwhile Luna told Steffy that she deserves a man that is rich and sexy and that man is Bill Spencer. Steffy called Luna a psycho and she tried to excuse herself by talking about her mom moving towns and popping pills. Luna assured Steffy that she will live in the Spencer estate while Steffy will rot away in a demolished building. Finn told his mother Li Nozawa that he suspects that Luna is involved in Steffy's disappearance. When Luna entered her work place she was shocked to see Finn waiting for her. He asked her if she knows where his wife is and Luna lied to his face and later ran in panic to the building where she kept Steffy. Luna tried to drug Steffy again, but she refused to take water from her. Suddenly Finn tore down the door to Luna's apartment. Luna was in shock and attempted to flee. Luna pushed her aunt away and ran down where she tried to escape, but Li managed to stop her.
Luna tried to guilt trip Li for not helping her when she was growing up. She claimed that Poppy was a terrible mother. The police arrived and handcuffed Luna after Li told them her niece framed her mother for murders she committed and that she kidnapped Steffy. Poppy was overjoyed when Bill informed her that charges against her were dropped because the real killer was found. Baker and Luna entered the room and initially Poppy was happy to see her until she realized that Luna was in handcuffs. When Baker told Poppy the truth about Luna she couldn't believe it until she herself admitted it. Luna cried and tried to guilt trip Poppy and said that she had no real foundation because she was only chasing her dreams and not thinking about her little girl. Luna claimed she wanted a dad and a regular family so bad and that's why she started seeing RJ. She also explained that she couldn't let someone like Tom be her father and that she didn't want to kill Hollis, but she had no choice. Luna begged her mother to not hate her, but a heartbroken Poppy just asked Baker to take Luna away. Luna begged her mother to not leave her alone when she was dragged away. Afterwards Poppy broke down in Bill's arms.
Death
After Luna broke out of prison by hiding in a laundry basket, Luna went to the Spencer Beach House. She hid in the cattails and secretly stole a random girl's clothes, who came to shower off at the Beach House. After Electra left, Luna walked into the house, and shocked Will when he thought she was Electra. Luna tries once again to tell Will how they can be a loving family with their unborn child, though he tells her that he wants nothing to do with her, the only thing they have a connection on is the information regarding the child. Will states that he will be an excellent father to his son or daughter, that the child will never have to know about Luna being its mother, then Luna confesses about how sorry she is for everything.
Killing Tom and Hollis, trapping Steffy in a cage, holding Steffy at gunpoint while also shooting Liam and Sheila, and taking advantage of Will. She then tells Will that she miscarried the baby over all the stress. As they hear the cops pull up, Luna tries to beg but Will runs out the door telling them Luna is inside. She manages to escape when Will left the door open and ran out into the foggy beach, as everyone gets a notification from Bill that Luna had escaped, the manhunt had begun. Poppy and Li Nozawa, Sheila, Deacon, Ivy, Bill Spencer and Katie Logan, Bradley Baker, & Taylor Hayes all began searching for Luna, as Luna finally makes her out of the Malibu Dunes, she looks back and smiles while running not realizing she came onto the streets in the traffic, Luna was ultimately struck by a car and died on impact.
