Dr. Li Nozawa is a character on The Bold and the Beautiful, portrayed by Naomi Matsuda since August 2, 2021.
Li is the adoptive mother of Dr. John "Finn" Finnegan, the older sister of Penelope "Poppy" Nozawa, the aunt of Luna Nozawa Spencer, and the ex wife of Jack Finnegan,
Storylines[]
Introduction[]
Li and her husband Jack Finnegan arrive in LA where Li meets her future daughter in law Steffy Forrester and her grandson Hayes Finnegan. Li and Steffy instantly take a liking to one another. Her and her husband attend Steffy and Finn's wedding. Her happiness doesn't last long as during the reception, she finds out that her adoptive son's biological mother is Sheila Carter and that she is responsible for many crimes against Steffy Forrester's family.
Learning of Jack's Betrayal[]
A few days later, her husband Jack Finnegan reveals that he and Sheila Carter had an affair behind her back and her adoptive son Finn Finnegan is Jack's biological son with Sheila. Li is heartbroken that her husband lied to her for so many years. She convinces her husband to tell their son, Finn, the truth about him being his biological father. After he confesses to Finn, Finn stands by and comforts his mother, Li. A few days later, they talk things out and return home.
Rescuing Finn from Death[]

Finn supposedly died after getting accidentally shot by his biological mother Sheila Carter. A heartbroken Li went to the hospital to check up on Finn's wife Steffy Forrester that was in a critical condition after also getting shot by Sheila. Right when Li arrived Sheila walked up to her and asked if she could see Finn one last time. Li made it clear that Finn is her son and she's taking care of him. Li looked very annoyed with Sheila who repeated a couple of times that she is also Finn's mother. Li pointed out that Sheila gave Finn up when he was a newborn and insisted that she won't let Sheila see his body. Li also declined when Taylor Hamilton and Ridge Forrester wanted to help her with the funeral and told them to concentrate on Steffy's while she will organize everything on her own. After Steffy woke up and remembered who shot her and Finn she contacted Li and informed her that it was Sheila. After Steffy told Li about the shooting she asked her mother in law about organizing the memorial survive, but Li brushed her off and quickly went home. When she arrived at home she spoke to Finn who was in a coma inside Li's place. Li expressed that Finn was Finn before he went into Steffy's world.
Battling Sheila Carter[]
Li was overjoyed when Finn started to move his pupils and fingers which meant that his consciousness is working. Her joy was stopped when Sheila Carter appeared on her doorstep demanding to know where Finn is buried. When Sheila heard the medical equipment she stormed into the room pushing Li away. Sheila was shocked when she saw an unconscious Finn. Li and Sheila started arguing and meanwhile Finn woke up. Li rushed to her son's side and Sheila banged her on the head and replaced her by Finn's side. Shortly after Finn was unconscious again and when Li regained her consciousness after being hit by Sheila she started pretending that she realizes how much she loves Finn and that she needs her help. Soon Finn was again conscious for a moment and called out Steffy's name. Li convinced Sheila that she won't go to the police because she herself would go to jail if they would find out that she is keeping Finn at home after signing his death certificate. Sheila believed Li and allowed her to walk out the door when Li promised that she only goes to pick medicine for Finn especially because when Ridge called Li to inform her that Sheila escaped she didn't tell him anything. When Li went into the hallway she was already calling the police which Sheila overheard and attacked Li. At first Li tried to pretend, but soon she called Sheila out for shooting Finn and then the crazy Carter woman started choking her. Li was successful in releasing herself from Sheila's hands and she gave her a beating which gave her time to reach the car. In the car Li said that Sheila will go to jail even if she has to go there too. Sheila started driving after her and bumped into Li so hard that her car started burning. Li fell into the water and her car sunk. She presumably died and Sheila was content to see it however it became a problem as Sheila was only a nurse and not a doctor and she didn't really know how to take care of a patient like Finn.
Sheila managed to keep Finn alive, but he woke up and remembered that she shot him and his wife. He tried to run away to his wife and when he asked Sheila where his mother was, she told Finn about Li's death however Li was alive and Bill Spencer Jr. found her moaning and moving near a trash can close to a restaurant he ate at. He took her to his house and tried to get her to tell him who she was but she was too badly traumatized. He asked Dr. Jordan Armstrong to come over and take a look at her to make sure she was ok since she wouldn't go to the hospital. Liam was with Wyatt at the same restaurant that his dad had eaten at with Wyatt the night before and had found Li in the alley when he was leaving, and called Bill to see if he was ok and found out he had taken a stranger home with him. Concerned, Liam went over to check on his dad and they started talking about Steffy and her checking into a clinic for depression and Li was listening and then came out upon hearing what the conversation was about and Liam immediately recognized her and told Bill who she was. Soon Li was able to talk and regained most of her memory. She told Bill and Liam that Finn is alive. At first the Spencer men didn't believe it, but Li explained what happened at the hospital when the doctors gave up on Finn, and that she took him to her apartment to nurse him back to health while he was in a coma. Li also explained that Sheila is with Finn. Bill and Li went to the apartment complex where Finn and Sheila were located. Li saw Finn on his feet and he was shocked that she is alive. The two fell into each others arms with a happy Bill and a very shocked Sheila watching them. Bill and Finn went out and headed to Bill's private jet so they can travel to Monaco. Li stayed with a tied down Sheila in the apartment and was waiting for the police to arrive. Sheila's accomplice showed up. He hit Li and let Sheila out. While Sheila managed to escape Sheila's partner in crime Mike Guthrie was captured by the police.
Conflict with Steffy and Alliance with Bill[]
Li was visiting Finn and Steffy at their home. Finn explained to his mother how very grateful he is to her for saving his life. At one point Finn had to go out to see a doctor and get a check up. Once they were alone Steffy thanked Li for saving Finn's life however she raised her voice at her the next second and blamed Li for keeping the information about Finn's condition from her. Li tried to explain her reasons and made it clear that if Steffy wants an apology she won't be getting one. Li reminded Steffy that Finn had a normal life before he got to know her and the rest of the Forresters. Neither Li or Steffy mentioned their conflict to Finn.
Li was grateful to Bill Spencer Jr. for saving her life. The two had a conversation where they both explained to each other about their love life. Li told Bill that she and her estranged husband Jack Finnegan are not together anymore as she can't forgive him for having a secret affair with Sheila Carter and lying to her about Finn being his bio son since his birth. Bill revealed to Li that he lost Katie because he of the consequences of his own actions.
Continued Rivalry with Sheila[]
When Li heard that Sheila was killed by a bear she thought that her son and his family is safe. Li had no idea that Sheila faked her death to avoid going to jail. One day when Li and Finn were eating at Il Giardino Sheila was lurking at them, but they were unaware of it. Li was happy that her son and his wife don't need security at the house without Sheila alive. Sadly Sheila was stalking Finn and his wife and even went inside the house for a moment to hold her grandson Hayes Finnegan when Finn was busy with a phone call.
When Li found out that Sheila is alive she was horrified so when she got caught Li was truly relieved and satisfied that justice will prevail. Li went to see Sheila in prison and told her off, but Sheila was very arrogant as she knew something that Li didn't know. Bill Spencer Jr., the man who formerly was Li and Finn's savior suddenly was on Sheila's side and secretly blackmailed Steffy Forrester to not testify against Sheila. Li was shocked when she found out that Steffy and Finn didn't testify and then her son explained that he and Steffy are blackmailed by Bill. Li didn't find out that Bill was blackmailing to tell the police that years ago Steffy's mother shot him. One day Sheila was rushed to the hospital with a heart attack and Li was assigned to be her doctor. The woman was shocked to see her nemesis in that state and she asked the nurse to call for Finn. When Li's son found out that his biological mother is at the hospital he and his wife that was currently with him ran to see Sheila. When Finn entered the room he asked Li why she isn't doing anything to help Sheila, but she just told Finn to let her die. Finn didn't listen to Li and he managed to save Sheila's life. Li questioned her son's decision and reminded him of everything Sheila did to them. Once Li was alone with Sheila she told her that she will rot in jail and later in hell.
Once Sheila was back in Jail Li and Finn talked at the cliff house. Li told her son that she regrets that she found out about Jack and Sheila's past affair and she also noticed that with Finn's demanding work, he may not spend enough time with his family. Li was devastated when in July 2023 Sheila was freed by the judge because the evidence collected against her wasn't legal. Soon after that Li visited Finn and got worried when he cried in her arms and confessed that Steffy took the kids and went to live in her grandfather's home. Finn explained to her that Kelly almost drowned on his watch, but Sheila saved her. He went on by saying that Steffy found out that he hugged Sheila and that he called his biological mother a hero for saving Kelly's life. Li was furious with Finn and took Steffy's side.
